Upcoming Retreats

We offer 4-day cancer support retreats in both the North and South Island, providing a peaceful space for healing, connection, and personalised care.

The Metabolic Approach is our Guiding Framework

Our programme is based on the ten “terrain” principles outlined in The Metabolic Approach to Cancer — a framework that looks at the whole person, not just the disease.

During the retreat, we’ll explore key terrains such as:

  • Nutrition & Blood Sugar Balance – understanding how food choices can influence healing and energy.
  • Stress, Sleep & Emotional Health – tools for calming the nervous system and cultivating peace.
  • Detoxification & Mitochondrial Health – gentle ways to support the body’s natural repair systems.
  • Epigenetics & Empowered Healing – learning how lifestyle choices can influence gene expression.
  • Connection & Community – rediscovering the strength that comes from being seen, supported, and understood.

These teachings are blended with the hope-filled stories and insights from Radical Hope by Kelly A Turner.
Some funding is available, please let us know if a subsidy would assist your attendance.

Under 50's Women's Support Circle

Join our casual evening get-together, a space created just for women under 50 navigating the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. It’s a relaxed opportunity to connect with other women who truly understand, sharing stories and support over a warm cup of tea.

The Cancer Society Walking Group

This is a very informal, casual, friendly walking group. Our intentions are to walk, talk, share and support.

  • Weekly no matter the weather!
  • Family, friends and four-legged furry companions most welcome.
  • We laugh, cry, chat and discover common connections and new friendships.
  • There are different paced groups – usually three, so something to suit most fitness levels.
  • We plan other events.
  • We enjoy a cuppa and conversation afterwards in the cafe.

The Cancer Society Support Group

If you, or someone you know, has been diagnosed with cancer, the Cancer Society are there to help. We work in communities throughout the Bay of Plenty including Whakatāne and King Country.

Creative Workshops

From time to time we enjoy, togetherness, connection and creativity. Dr Barbara Hochstein – Patron, has a passion for craft and facilitates these inspirational workshops. These workshops are a lovely chance to share ideas and support one another. You will be amazed how therapeutic the process is.
